This article discusses the role of crisis intervention in reducing the effects of psychological trauma experienced by individuals following sudden events that threaten their life, health, or a sense of safety. The aim of the paper is to demonstrate the importance of early and professional support in limiting the consequences of trauma, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety disorders, and difficulties in social functioning. The article discusses the nature of a psychological crisis, the effects of experiencing it, and selected principles and models of crisis intervention. It highlights the importance of immediate action, including
assessing the situation, ensuring safety, providing emotional support, and mobilising the individual’s personal resources. The analysis indicates that effective crisis intervention can significantly reduce the risk of the negative effects of trauma becoming persistent, while supporting the process of restoring psychological and social equilibrium. The article reflects on the importance of crisis intervention as a means of reducing the negative consequences of experienced trauma.
