Abstract

This article presents a biography of Lieutenant General Sir John Bagot Glubb (16 April 1897 – 17 March 1986). T he second part of the article attempts to apply J.B. Glubb’s concept of the imperial life cycle to the history of the American empire from its inception to the present day.
