Small homelands are a “school” of empowerment of the local community.
They ensure and guarantee the local community its real autonomy
and freedom in the form of liberation from centralist structures and in the
form of ensuring multiple natural freedom and social rights. Autonomy is an
indispensable condition for the local community to realize its existential subjectivity.
It should also be emphasized that the idea of small homelands, by
ensuring real autonomy of the local community, creates a wide platform for
revealing the actual activity and dynamics of the local community. This study
was presented in the form of a paper at a conference devoted to the role
of institutions and academic and cultural associations and societies in researching
and documenting the heritage of small homelands on the example
of northern Mazovia, organized in November 2023 by the National Academy
of Applied Sciences named after Ignacy Mościcki in Ciechanów.
