The Introduction of Martial Law in the Ciechanów Province
Abstract
The article presents the preparation and implementation of martial law in the Ciechanów Province in the light of the archival materials of the Provincial Citizens’ Militia Headquarters in Ciechanów and the Provincial Military Staff in Ciechanów. In addition, the study used documents of people interned in detention centers in Iława and Kwidzyn. Apart from the preparations for the imposition of martial law on the part of the militia and the army, presented in the context of preparations on a national scale, the course of the “Azalia,” “Fir,” and “Klon” operations and the activities of military operational groups as well as representatives of the National Defense Committee in the Ciechanów Voivodeship were described in detail.
