Charitable Activities and Religious Foundations of Paulina Górska Née Krasińska and Ludwik Górski

Abstract

The paper, based on the life of Paulina Górska née Krasińska and
her husband Ludwik Górski, raises the issue of the involvement of women
and men from high society in charity activities in the 19th century. They undertook
many social initiatives individually and by engaging in the activities
of many institutions, organizations and charitable associations. The Górskis
showed respect for their employees and the people who lived on their estates.
They were the founders of churches, chapels, hospitals, orphanages,
and also took part in many projects initiated for those in need. The article
aims to present their activities and show their great love for their homeland,
even though they lived in times of slavery.
